Oh bloody hell, she's back
Add to the mix, pesky appendicitis (2016) and a catastrophic knee injury (2018) resulting in some not-very-happy-thoughts, (2016-) , I have been less than willing to put myself out there for scrutiny.
(Possibly my favourite video this year so far - best sums up 2020 and earphones recommended)
I outright refused to share my mental health troubles online, which in hindsight colossally backfired; I instead buried them in food, drink and comfort sleeping. And sinking myself into so much on-demand content, my brain resembles The Oasis from Ready Player One.
So instead, I focused on work writing content for theatre websites, led projects in website journalism and property news and most worked as a digital sub-editor recently at a national newspaper, right up until COVID-19 came in and knocked the whole bloody world on its arse.
Of course, we were in trouble wayyy before that. In 2016 the country voted itself out of the EU, a suicidal act of defiance in order to shake its sunburned little fists across the Channel at the French; America voted in an incurious, inflammatory racist as its President as a way of out-stupiding the UK. And to add to that horror show of a year, everybody famous and old died. No wonder Charlie Brooker had to keep re-editing that edition of Wipe.
And then came Boris Johnson as the Prime Minister. Or, the Part-Time PM as he is more commonly known. He's currently on holiday number three having managed about a fortnight total of work.
But, this year I am angry. No, I am fucking FURIOUS; the world has gone to pot, I haven't seen my mother since my birthday in March, and I am dying to get out of isolation, which has been going on for about 84 years. Or, to be accurate, the day before my birthday.
Looking back on my previous posts, my life has immeasurably changed; some topics (see: The Hunger Games BluRay hissy fit) seem laughably trivial, while others (see Poppy Facism) stay as relevant as ever, at certain times of the year.
So, That's it. In a nutcase. I mean, shell. But I'm back.
